Resurgence Church is a Spirit-led, Christ-centered community devoted to discipling believers, restoring families, and transforming neighborhoods through the power and presence of God.
Founded by Preston and Tanya Jongbloed, Resurgence Church was birthed under the apostolic covering of Apostle Theo Roman and the leadership of Westreach Assembly of God—a ministry recognized for raising and releasing leaders across South Africa. Our church is aligned with the Assemblies of God Association of South Africa (AOGASA).
After more than a decade of faithful service at Westreach, Preston and Tanya responded to a fresh stirring from the Lord—to step out in obedience and plant what would become Resurgence Church.
To create a Spirit-led, Christ-centered community where every individual is discipled, families are healed, and communities are transformed through the power of revival.
Reviving hearts. Restoring families. Reclaiming communities.
“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but He will heal us; He has injured us but He will bind up our wounds. After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will restore us, that we may live in His presence.” — Hosea 6:1–2 (NIV)
“Come, let us return to the Lord” speaks directly to the heart of revival and resurgence—a calling back to God.
“He will revive us… He will restore us” beautifully mirrors the heartbeat of a church that seeks to bring life where things have grown dry or broken.
The reference to “on the third day” points us to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ—the ultimate picture of resurgence.
Preston and Tanya Jongbloed, along with their son Ahren, serve as the Lead Pastors of Resurgence Church.
Preston’s journey into ministry began on the soccer field, where he played as a professional footballer until a career-ending injury in 2005 changed the trajectory of his life. Following his retirement from sport, he stepped into the world of media and went on to serve in Christian radio and television for over 20 years.
Tanya brings a unique combination of corporate leadership expertise and a deep passion for women’s ministry. She has devoted much of her life to mentoring and empowering women—especially those facing hardship—helping them rediscover their God-given identity and live with renewed purpose and dignity.
Everything begins and ends with Jesus. A Spirit-filled church exalts Christ above culture, personality, and programs.
Colossians 1:18
“And He is the head of the body, the church… so that in everything He might have the supremacy.”
A Spirit-filled church depends on the Holy Spirit for guidance, power, and transformation—not just programs or personalities.
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
The Bible is the final authority. Spirit-filled does not mean Scripture-light. It means Word and Spirit together.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”
True worship flows from a surrendered heart. Spirit-filled churches are marked by passionate, Spirit-led worship. Jesus is deserving of all our worship. When we praise Him, our faith grows stronger. By giving generously, we help to expand His Kingdom.
John 4:24
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Prayer isn’t a side dish—it’s the engine room. Spirit-filled churches are praying churches, hosting God’s presence through constant communion.
Acts 2:42
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
The Holy Spirit empowers us to reach the lost. A Spirit-filled church has a burden for souls and a commitment to the Great Commission.
Mark 16:15
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
The evidence of the Spirit isn’t just gifts—it’s love. Spirit-filled churches pursue deep, authentic relationships across generations and cultures.
Ephesians 4:3
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
